High School
5 Steps Academy is a Cambridge International, and a US College Board approved K-12 school. With the highest level (II) of approval, 5 Steps Academy is entitled to administer SAT and AP (US stream) and IGCSE and A-level (UK stream) examinations so that our students can sit for the tests right on the school campus in Singapore, receive the results through the school and then apply to any university in the world.
High School starts from Grade 9. Grades 11 and 12 are optional and only for the students who opted for Hight School and were recommended by our Academic Board. High School students can achieve the High School Certificate following US College Board standards (US stream) or Cambridge Assessment International Education standards (UK stream). The High School Certificate with SAT and AP test results is accepted by almost all universities globally, not only in the USA, and is equivalent to higher IB and A-level. Similarly, Cambridge IGSCE and A-levels certificates are accepted by almost all universities globally, not only in the UK, and are equivalent to higher IB and US High School Certificates.
Regardless of the stream, all the students are required to complete all the Grade 10 subject exams and at least five IGCSE subject exams in Grade 10 to obtain the Grade 10 Certificate of Completion. You can decide whether to finish school with IGCSE or move to 5 Steps High School. Grades 11 and 12. Students must choose at least 5 IGCSE subjects for Cambridge certification and sit for the Cambridge IGCSE tests on the school campus. Two out of these subjects must be IGCSE Cambridge International Mathematics and IGCSE English (First or Second Language). The other three subjects should include either two subjects from the Humanities block and one subject from the Science block or one subject from the Humanities block and two subjects from the Science block.
In addition to the Secondary School program and students’ choice of the IGCSE subjects, the High School students for the US stream have to choose at least five of following subjects (AP English Language and Composition and AP Calculus or AP Statistics are mandatory):
AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Physics 1 & 2, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP 2-D Arts and Design, AP 3-D Arts and Design, AP Art History, AP Drawing, AP US History, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Spanish, or AP Chinese,
and/or
For the UK stream, at least three A-levels (A-level English Language and A-level Mathematics are mandatory): A-level Mathematics, A-level Physics, A-level Chemistry, A-level Biology, A-level English Language, A-Level Economics, A-Level Computer Science, A-Level IT, A-level Global Perspectives & Research (if you pursue the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma).
Students who are academically strong and want their school transcripts to shine may take SAT, APs and A-levels.
All students must take Pre-Calculus and Health modules.

The 5 Steps High School Program is designed for students aged 14-18. Admission to 5 Steps High School is selective. This means that students have to demonstrate their diligence in studies, excellent academic results and behaviour to be approved by the 5 Steps Academic Board.
As 5 Steps Academy is a Cambridge International School and a College Board approved K-12 school (listed in the US national list of high schools) and a test centre, 5 Steps High School Certificate opens the doors to all top universities in the world, and we (school and parents) just need to make sure that students apply enough efforts to meet the High School Certificate’s rigorous standards.
